Thread: Back at it with a Flowerhorn?

Default Back at it with a Flowerhorn?

Bought this little guy a couple weeks ago. Was labelled Kirin Parrot, but looks a lot more like a shortbody flowerhorn to me. Let me know what y'all think. I've yet to keep a fish with such awareness of its surroundings. I haven't been very active for a while but I thought I'd share this little update.

I decided to go barebottom to make it easier to clean. Currently feeding Hikari Blood-Red Parrot+, Hikari Algae wafers, and freeze dried blood worms. Keeping it solitary to avoid any aggressive mishaps. Excuse the white fuzz on the driftwood, still new.

I'm still learning, but I used to hate the idea of keeping hybrids. But my eyes have been opened. I've yet to keep a fish this entertaining.

Thanks, I figured it was time to come back and contribute.

Welcome back! I keep hearing flower horns are extremely personable. Having one is on my bucket list for sure! If you have a chance, could you post of video of his interactions?

Will do! Its still a little shy sometimes and its still young but as it grows more comfortable and aggressive I think it will be even more active.

Never got around to getting that video, but it goes nuts when I walk into the room or open the top lid. It also has a tendency to sit right up against the glass and watch me while I watch TV, very curious little guy. Here's some updated pictures.
