I cannot tell at its current size but I do have a question.....How to you think rescuing this fish helps? Now that petsmart has sold the fish they will simply reorder it. If you want to help fish then stop spending any money at petsmart and support your local mom and pop stores like Texas Aquatics. Supporting the independents will help the hobby. Supporting ( i.e. "rescuing" ) fish from a big corporate store just pushes the independent stores to shutting down and encourages the big stores to keep buying fish that they should not handle because they have now made a profit on it.

ID?...I do not think I could even tell you for certain if it was CA/SA or african though I would guess a Malawian cichlid based on the fact that most of the big box stores do not sell many CA/SA cichlids apart from oscars, midas, "red devils", and a few other species that would probably be recognizable.

It could be a young laetacara curviceps, but it is hard to tell.

    LOL you tell him, Arnold
    -------------------------------------
It all started as a child.... I spent hours watching fish, tadpoles and crabs in the stream nearby... then when we went to the beach for vacation I spent my time watching the fish and anenomes in the rock/tidal pools. So here I am now with multiple tank syndrome. Is there even a cure?
