If I had fewer blue marble angelfish in my 75, it would also have a school of lemon tetras, emperor tetras, Cory's and long fin green dragons.

Please keep in mind that white clouds like cooler temperatures than most tropical fish, so if you plan on having a heater in the tank, it can be stressful for them.

So after using two different sizes of drill bits, I finally got it all out, about 1 1/4" of metal and rust.

I just read that someone found their shrimp eating their guppy fry. I wonder if your adult shrimp would catch and eat the sword tail fry?

I decided to try and remove it. I think as it was screwed in originally, the head of the screw broke off. Now I'm dealing with excavating enough of the shaft to get a grip on it. By the time I get through there may be a divot big enough to stick a plant in!

I've heard horror stories of angelfish choking on full grown Otto's because they thought they could eat them. Mine are in a tank with bn plecos and cory cats and are fine with them. Their tank is full planted and I never see them eating plants except duckweed. That being said, if you get a small, young one, and it grows up with the swords, it may not see the older ones as food. But then you don't know it's personality until it gets older. I'm...

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've known people in the past that don't realize that loosing a pet is devastating. Near the end of last year we lost two elderly dogs within months of each other. No matter how many times it happens, and you know it's coming, it doesn't get easier. As far as a female angelfish, I bought 12 blue marbles a year ago, but I don't keep a heater in my tank. None of them are showing any signs of pairing off so I have no...

I bought a piece of used driftwood and I found a rusty screw in it. Will this hurt the fish/shrimp/snails? Do I need to drill it out? I've tried to unscrew it, but it's not budging. Should I just cover/seal it with silicone and place it in? Any ideas are appreciated.

Nick, I have even more duckweed than I did two weeks ago, so once again, if anyone is headed in Nick's direction, I have plenty of duckweed to go around.

plant lady replied to a thread Malaysian Driftwood in Want To Buy
There is no way to view what you get from Ken's, unfortunately. I ordered a small piece of driftwood from him several years ago and it was just that, a piece of wood. However, this piece of mopani is beautiful. With the shape they sent me, I have 3 different ways I can place it in the tank. The natural two tone color of the wood is also very pretty and the price was very good. I received a VERY heavy piece that was almost 12 inches in two...

You might check out mopani wood. I've decided to stop buying malaysian driftwood and concentrate on mopani wood. I just bought some from Ken's fish and it a great size and shape for the $. It's very heavy and sinks immediately. You do still have to soak it because of the tannins, but it's soooo much more dense , I'll have it for years before it decays. It's also very pretty.

ozzzz, what Java Fern did you get? I have some Java Fern windelov that stays short and bushy and has a totally different look than the reg one. Don't forget that java ferns do best if they're planted (attached to) driftwood or rocks. They're roots need to be out of the soil some if planted in the substrate.

It looks good and don't worry, it will fill in. And you can always add more plants later. I found that with my tanks I ended up with more plants than I needed so I just HAD to make a 20 long plant tank! Funny how that works, and now I'm almost to the point of needing to get rid of the cuttings.

You could do rosette swords, they only get 6'' tall. I have several and I really like them.

Wow, I have a small 5 gal, bow front that was given to me. The only thing in it are some moss and Java Fern pieces that I threw in there. Now I understand why I dislike that tank. I didn't realize it before, but it's hard to look at.

I have a fair number of these in my shrimp tank. A while back I mistakenly thought I could darken my light blue shrimp by adding three dark blue ones. Basically I just totally messed up both types. I started getting any and all different variations you could think of. Clear with red legs, clear and red stripes on body w/red legs, blue bodies w/red legs, clear and red bodies w/blue legs. You name it and I probably had or have it. I believe it was...

biggin, I just looked at a Petco near me and they are having the $1 per gallon now on the 10, 20, 20L and 29. The 40 and 55 are 50% off, so they are $50 and $65.
