These shrimp do not need brackish water to breed, they are a variation of the cherry shrimp. But if you still want to sell, I'll buy.

When I had my turtle, the uva and uvb lights needed to be changed every 6 months. I'm not sure about lighting for the plants, but I've had 2 CFLs over a 20 long and 1 over a 5 for about 1 1/2 years and both seem to be working great. The plants are still taking over the tanks.

I checked this out and under the comments section it states that the light is very poor and will NOT grow plants.

RandallW20, I have not and will not be able to work on my tanks this week, but I'm hoping to have time next week. I will probably have some to share.

I'll be doing some more trimming today, if I can find the time (my tanks are at work). I'll keep you posted.

Yep, I've got it in most of my tanks. Tractor Supply has it in my area for $7.99/50lbs. They have medium and fine, just DON'T get the bag labeled "recycled". It'll have metal bits in it.

Do you think it has something to do with disturbing the substrate? Do you have MTS with some additives in it?

Ok, guys. Would those of you who are privy to dates, times and locations of things coming up, please post them on the calendar! I think it would make it soooo much easier to plan to go to different events if we could see them at a glance. Thanks!

newkid, I actually live in Azle and work in Arlington, so I go through FW twice a day. I'll be doing some pruning on my tanks next week, so I'll let you know. We can meet at Central Market, which is my regular stomping ground.

That's probably ok. I've never had a light fixture with the night mode. Just remember that we want to imitate nature as closely as possible.

plant lady replied to a thread Hello in Introductions
Welcome! Please keep in mind that the angels will eat all the platy babies and any other fish that will fit into their mouths. Also, while the idea of using a fish tank as a night light sounds great, fish have no eyelids, therefore if the light stays on all night, the fish can't sleep. That results in them getting stressed, which can lead to sickness and death.

I made an under gravel filter for my 75 gal. several years ago when I had my turtle in it. I used an egg crate light lens cut to fit, covered it with window screen, (non metal), and "sewed" in on with fishing line.
