What are some of your favorite aquarium plants? Whether rare or common what plant, in your opinion, seems to stand out in beauty or uniqueness? I bought a dwarf lily a couple of weeks back, looked alright at the store wasn't sure how it'd look in my tank, and now it's one of my favorite plants. The leaves look surprisingly good and it has more than tripled in size. Fastest grower I have for sure atm. Madagascar Lace is another that I...

Good looking tank! 55's are hard to scape cause of the lack of width.

I've got about an hour drive from my house to fish gallery, but it's one of my most frequent places to shop. DNA (Dallas North) is luckily really close to where I work.

They did when I was there Saturday. I think they had 2. One of them was just north of $100.

Frank was where I first started getting interested in them. Then seeing their beauty at Fish Gallery just compounded that..... Let us know when you have surplus shrimp! I'm always looking for a good deal on good looking shrimp :spend:

Well after rescaping the tank I got sick and had to let everything settle for a bit. Good news is by the time I felt good enough the driftwood had soaked enough to take the massive rock off of it. Want to add some moss, anubius, and something for the background. Also the rock blends in really well with the turface moreso in the pictures than irl.... not sure what I'm going to do. can layer some eco complete over it, but atm just going to fill...

I imagine fish would enjoy eating them. Not sure bout freshwater, but in saltwater micro-fauna like this was encouraged and given safe places to grow and breed for a more robust ecosystem.

I think only giant duckweed is illegal. common duckweed doesn't seem to be..... unless I'm overlooking it.. On that same note.... imagine if you were fined 200 per for duckweed. Would be a hefty fine for sure.

What kind of light does it get? Got the recommendation from someone at Fish Gallery to help be lazy with water changes while plants grow in, but it would get very little light as the set-up stands now. Maybe a few hours of indirect CFL light and whatever sunlight manages to get through the window. What is the size of those inserts? I couldn't find dimensions, based on pictures seems like it would suit a small tank (as is your plan) but...

Looks really interesting, have been considering doing something similar with my 75 since the re-scape. Haven't been sure how to plant though, seems like a good solution. The fact it only holds on with suction cups would concern me though, my maxi-jet likes to fall from it's suction cup hold. I hear Pothos/Devil's Ivy works well as a marginal plant in tanks, and is a monster for removing nitrate.
