Well after rescaping the tank I got sick and had to let everything settle for a bit. Good news is by the time I felt good enough the driftwood had soaked enough to take the massive rock off of it. Want to add some moss, anubius, and something for the background. Also the rock blends in really well with the turface moreso in the pictures than irl.... not sure what I'm going to do. can layer some eco complete over it, but atm just going to fill...

I imagine fish would enjoy eating them. Not sure bout freshwater, but in saltwater micro-fauna like this was encouraged and given safe places to grow and breed for a more robust ecosystem.

I think only giant duckweed is illegal. common duckweed doesn't seem to be..... unless I'm overlooking it.. On that same note.... imagine if you were fined 200 per for duckweed. Would be a hefty fine for sure.

What kind of light does it get? Got the recommendation from someone at Fish Gallery to help be lazy with water changes while plants grow in, but it would get very little light as the set-up stands now. Maybe a few hours of indirect CFL light and whatever sunlight manages to get through the window. What is the size of those inserts? I couldn't find dimensions, based on pictures seems like it would suit a small tank (as is your plan) but...

Looks really interesting, have been considering doing something similar with my 75 since the re-scape. Haven't been sure how to plant though, seems like a good solution. The fact it only holds on with suction cups would concern me though, my maxi-jet likes to fall from it's suction cup hold. I hear Pothos/Devil's Ivy works well as a marginal plant in tanks, and is a monster for removing nitrate.

A little better picture. Net to cover filter intake, took off surface skimmer to run canister at full speed, net to stop fish from getting sucked in.

*facepalm* :twitch::confuzeld: So I guess my picture didn't actually post back in September. Below is a current tank shot, excuse the dirty water knocked a fair bit of detritus into the water column when quickly cleaning glass. Plants are stable, with some recent growth of the monte carlo. Not dosing EI, and nitrates are high so algae is still abundant even with only a 3 hour photoperiod. Planning on overhauling the tank this...

Thanks! I picked up a solid piece of driftwood from fish gallery. Soaking it, hopefully it sinks quickly...... I'll check out Joe pool lake if I need more, that stuff is pricey.
