Get some blackworms, frozen bloodworms, etc. and feed the female alone for a week...they will probably spawn within a day or two of being put back together and I would remove the mop to keep them from eating any eggs.

I do not know that much about shrimp but in stores they are always expensive, especially the rarer ones and higher grades and that price sounds about right IMO.

Most of my complaints revolve around them not answering questions about what they have in stock still as their list is often times inaccurate or dated and not responding with a shipping quote of some sort...I have had shipping quotes vary 40-50 dollars for the same basic shipping service despite similar distances to travel and such. I know that shipping is often times going to be expensive and have paid it many times, but I want to know if it is...

Thanks for the offer...I will keep it in mind. Mostly I am keeping non-african cichlids now so we may be ordering from different places, but who knows, maybe not.

I guess you could call this a rant. Locally we only have one LFS in the area apart from petco and petsmart and most of what they bring in is fairly common, dyed fish, hormoned, balloon this and for people who like neon gravel and bubbling treasure chests :hehe:...their prices are usually pretty cheap though and they have been around forever. The next closest store is probably an hour and a half drive away so I do not get...

I think something between 6500 and 10k looks the best. The kessil lights I like the most but they are expensive and cover only a small area. I used the 10k beamswork on my old african cichlid setup.

Apistogramma Agassizi Sp. "Tefe" spawned for the first time in quite a while...hoping the eggs make it this time.

Just a quick update...I have seven now (I picked up two more a bit later than the original six but lost one of them a day or two after getting them). As suspected it appears that I have plenty of what I would think would be males and two that if I were to guess might be female. They are growing but slowly with the biggest probably getting close to 4". The colors on 2-3 of them are getting intense, especially the honey/amber coloring on the sides...

I ordered a few months back without issue...I talked to him once on the phone a few years ago...that being said, he was going through bankruptcy at one time I think and seems to never have stuff in stock anymore so buyer beware.

papasmurf replied to a thread Hccc in Local Events
I can't imagine the prices would be much lower than some of the more recent TCA auctions. Only thing I would be concerned with is whether the hurricane cleanup and people trying to get necessary parts of their lives and homes in order would decrease attendance.

It "should" have more variety than the TCA auctions since it is a group of clubs coming together for one event...not just a cichlid club. I went to the one last year at HCCC and it was okay...not as good as I had hoped but I think the houston area may have a bit more variety as HCCC leans very heavily toward tangs and vics. I dread the drive down there but there is so much stuff in the pond I need to move before winter that I do not have a lot...
