So I lost 3 of my favorite fish when we moved this weekend turns out the PH is WAY to high and i have never had to deal with the PH were i use to live it was perfect out of the tap, so i didn't even think that as all my suffered. Well a friend of ours said that was a problem in this area and while we have all the chemicals to test the water the phial you test the water has gone missing. So if any of you have an Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. PH testing kit I would be much obliged if you could tell me the amount of water you need to test it.

If its off the chart blue, then you'll need to get the high ph test to get accurate reading.

It depends on what kind of fish that you are keeping.

the one on the far left is the one that I use...
My PH generally is over the 7.6 mark, but remember that the high ph test is the different test not just a darker blue...

the low range ph test says (on the bottle) "ph test"

the high range test says (high ph)

see the cards in the previous post (post #9 in this thread) to see the actual ranges that they test.

Thank you for the help we were really high over 7.8(really dark blue), we have got it down to i think 7.4(blue-green) and those that lived in the 55 and the test fish(feeder Goldfish) in the other tanks are doing fine so maybe next week we will be able to get some more fish!

You have to be careful when you move. You'd think most water in the same region would be similar, but it's not even close. I have a small tank at work, and the water is usually around 6.8. At home, it comes out of the tap around 7.6 to 7.8.

Do you have any peat moss or driftwood in the tank?

That would help to bring it down and stabilize it.

as I stated in a earlier post...7.8 isn't dark blue... its tan.

We don't have any live plants at the moment getting some Friday:D and i moved from Dallas to Wichita Falls a few months ago and a couple weeks ago moved to the other side of Wichita Falls. We had no problem with the first move and then this move lost a few but we had cut back so many that a few was all we had left:( And now are setting our 5 tanks back up but are scared to put anything in cause we dont want anymore dead fish so i have to look at a bunch of feeder goldfish in all but my 55 which houses 3 plecos a jack and a catfish, atleast until next Friday.
