Just FYI, I got hit with red slime a few weeks ago , Did all the things listed on serveral webs sites, Same old same same old get rid of food source. But that never realy got rid of the bacteria, it still lived on . So I bought red slime by Ultalife, I was very please. I did do it a little Different then the directions as I only have a few inverts and coral and I have no fish,

I double dosed and I also took out all filter media and I did shut off the Skimmer. I just left the internal pump running. In 24 HRS I could see that all was going well in 48 HRS it was gone!!

I continue running the tank for the rest of the week just the pump then did my regular WC as normal . Was very Happy none the BIO was touched!!

Oh ya this can treat up too 300 gallons, lol I will have this stuff for life :)

Just my 2 Cents!!

Cyanobacteria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanobacteria) can be found in fresh water as well.

I had chemiclean also , and I also had purgein also that only takes phospates out etc, which should strave it to death. I also only feed every other day so food was not an issue, sometimes bacteria can live off the rocks and things do die off and on with rocks and LS

I've only had cyanobacteria once! Easily got rid of it with 2 hermit crabs :)
