View Full Version : My New Mantis

Well, I went and picked her up yesterday. She is a little over 4". Her colors are awesome (though it's hard to tell in this pic) and it's very cool to watch her. You can tell that she's checking you out while you are watching her. She's a deep green color with red stripes at her segments and a crazy baby blue pattern on her front claws. Anyway, she seems to be adapting very well to her new home and I'm happy that I got it.....(so far) :)

Mantis shrimp are amazing creatures, I saw one at Plano Pets recently and have regretted not picking him up when I had the chance!

Are you able to sex it ? :)

Yes. The antennal scales and uropods (next to her ears) determine the sex. On the females they are yellow, on the males they are blue. You can see in the first pic that "hers" are yellow :)

Are you able to sex it ? :)
