Pool filter sand or sand blasting might be the best route.

The white sand I used was really really fine, I got it in Denton at a building supply store.

It is the finest grade blasting sand they have. I'm sure you could find it closer to home if you found someone that sold blasting sand. Sometimes places like United Rental carry stuff like that so its worth a try.

It's about the whitest sand I could find.

no joke! I could never take a pic that good, there would be a nice string of fresh poop right in the middle of that pretty white sand

Wow! That sand is really white! I must do something with my substrate soon in my 50 and 55. I am sick to death of the large pebbles! Nice labs too, must have got them from me, lol!

How about ground glass, it is a fine white sand, used for bead blasting. I know that Harbor Freight sells it in a 25lb and 50lb boxes. Might be worth checking out.

Oh, my bad! I brought some to the first G2G for David G., and it must have been someone else who took some. Gee, I am getting senile!
