I started the saltwater adventure with a cheap tank off craigslist. It became an addiction and it continues. I was playing around on craigslist and happened to stumble upon this lil gem a 29 gallon tank brand new, stand, cheap light, hob filter, extra protein skimmer and some other misc accessories for super cheap. I went and picked it up and couldnt wait to set it up.
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w121/psu54321/tank7.jpg tank in its place and thanks to waterdog on the boards for the FREE caribsea white sand that was dead.

The next step was to step up my skimmer for this larger tank as I always wanted one of these. Thanks to Kleankord for the deal on the cpr bakpak 2r+ desgigned for a reef aquarium. I decided to throw my heater in the side of the cpr to free up tank space and it works perfectly.

The next step in the endeavour was to find a different light. The light I had was amazing but I wanted a 4 bulb t5 and RichardB had one for sale and I had to pick it up. I replaced all the bulbs and am now running 1 glo ho 10,000k and 3 glo 420nm acitnic which was a great combo for me. The light is dirty here but is now very clean.

The next step was to begin adding water and my original cleanup crew from reefcleaners.org 20 gallon I had. Loving this new deep sand bed as well.

I scoured craigslist and found this false perc and had to snag her up
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w121/psu54321/clown1.jpg

I then felt that she was very lonely and added this lil boy to match up
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w121/psu54321/clown2.jpg

I then found my favorite fish this lil marshall island flame angel courtesy rift to reef
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w121/psu54321/flame.jpg

I initially picked this yellow tang up for my father in laws tank but when my son saw him he screamed big bird and would not let me take him out of the tank to take over to his house so for now he will grow a bit in this tank.

Looks good. I just wouldn't be me if I didn't caution you about that many fish in a new tank, so I'll throw that out there. Tangs usually need more room. Good luck with it. You have some nice, hearty corals in there. I think the tank will mature into something really stunning.

Yea it Is a lot of fish in there. I used my old water and everything looks to be transitioning great. I'm doing weekly water changes which seems to be helping and my levels are staying in check. Just this damn pep shrimp is gonna get it. The tang I'm against having in this tank for sure but its gonna be gone this weekend for sure to be in laws tank so my son will have to see big bird over there

thanks. Its about a 7 compared to the 3 freshwater is. You need a powerhead or 2. You can always find used ones on dfwmas and you will need a Skimmer. You don't have to have a sump and you can do all hang on back if you would like. If you want to go all out on anlight go led. If not a dual strip or 4 bulb t5ho fixture will do just fine. You will need a good source for saltwater. Whether premixing yourself or buying it at the store. I still buy mine. I buy 10 gallons every 2 weekes maybe less. Costs me about $10 every 2 weeks. Get a hydrometer for around 15 bucks and the only chemicals you could need are a good calcium and alkalinity buffer. Keep your salinity in check with the hydrometer and you should be fine. You might also want to get a complete saltwater test kit to test for alkalinity. Magnesium. Ph. Phosphates. Nitrates and what not. Choose a calcium based sand which is good to have and add the water and have fun

As was mentioned, yellow tangs usually need a bit more space. The flame angel are also know to be trouble in a reef tank (maybe you got one of the good ones.) I think they are one of the most stunning sw fish though. Did you give the tank any time to cycle? Usually you will still have a mini cycle even using your live rock and sand? Looking good though. Hope all goes well.

But you don't need most of that stuff in a fish only tank if I am not mistaken...Like if i decide to go with my predator tank I don't need abunch of excessive lighting etc...right? or have a I really forgotten that much...dainbramage is a mutha lol

Yea the flame has been nipping at it a bit cause the clowns destroyed it after trying to host it once the peppermint shrimp munched on it. You wont need good lighting at all for fish only salt tank

Added this CPR aquafuge 2 medium today. Has 3.5" deep sand bed and 5lbs live figi rubble rock and a nice chunk of chaeto. I cut the lid on my 10 gallon tank and put the Hood and light on top and its perfect.

Added new bulbs to the fixture today
1 kz fiji purple
2 kz super blue
1 ati true actinic
This combo really makes the colors pop. Pics taken with my vibrant. Don't mind the crappy hose to the fuge. That's a work in progress right now
