From my understanding (and this is mostly guessing) bodwood is and will stay submersed while driftwood floats (but can be made to sink).

Also might have to do with what type of wood it is. I know the bog wood I have is a weird oak from Africa.

Then again there might not really be a difference at all.

Bogwood is enjoyed by pleco's as well!!

A lot of the "bog" wood is the root of trees.

well thats the reason i want some "bog wood" is for my plecos, So I need to know if there is a specific difference and if so what it is. i'm thinking of a getting a royal pleco and at catfishplanet.com it mentions bogwood but not driftwood as an inside the tank snack.

I've heard that you can get that hard wood called Mopani wood and that it sinks immediatly. I am interested, but I need a wood that plecos will like and that will lower my pH. Does anyone know if the ZooMed brand Mopani wood will do this for me?

i was just reading about the mopani wood. Apparently releases a gel resin when submerged, safe but still kinda weirds me out.. have you read anything about some of the other zoomed woods? like if the wood caves, I know they are safe for amphibians....but are the underwater safe??
