Here are a few pictures from September 1968 of my 20 and 40 gallon tanks. Notice the background of paint we used back then.

We did not have too much of a choice of fish then. That I could afford anyway.

No, it is a liquid paint that when it dried, it crystallized. Everyone used it. I was told it was taken off the marker because of the flumes being bad for you.

Thanks for posting these! I have searched the internet several times for old pictures of tanks and I keep finding the same few over and over again. This is great!

Love the pictures! My grandmother used to keep angels back in the sixties. She would bring them home in little paper boxes like you used to get chinese take out in!

Oh, those pictures are so great! I love those old, vintage setups. Appreciate you posting those. We should all look through our old childhood pictures and try to find pics of the first fish tank we ever had and post those. Those would be fun to look at. Mine was an old Metaframe tank back in the late '60s. I had such nostalgia about it, I found one of those old tanks, retored it, and set it up as close to original as I could (still searching for one of those old lighting fixtures to go on it!).

Have a great day, everyone!

Isn't that a brackish fish? Anyway nice set up. Had several fishtanks in the 70's too bad I didn't have the foresight to take pics. I can barely remember what my fishes looked like. :(

Those are some cool look'n backgrounds.

Unfortunately pic take'n back in the day wasn't as EZ as it is today.
Now ya can take a hundred pics and just delete the ones that are blurry.
