View Full Version : Blue Apple Snails Finally Connected

My Blue Apple snails have finally connected. Well, that was my fault that they hadn't..LOL

I had split the snails in different tanks when I got them all, they have all been growing well, had some casualties along the way and I now have 9 in all. Nothing was ever happening, like eggs. About 5 of these snails are already golfball size. So I moved 2 of my big ones and put in the 55g with the other 5 in there and within about 2 days, I found a cluster of eggs.. :Whoa: so I realized I just had the same sexes in the tanks I had put them in.

So I swapped 2 more snails from 2 more tanks that I had 2 snails in... well almost immediatly 2 of the large snails connected. They stayed stuck together for about an hour and the female dragged the male all over the tank stuck to her..LOL So should see a cluster of eggs from her soon too. Thought I would share the pics :)

Not all but alot I had 2 egg clusters at the same time one hatch on their own the other I had to help. I got info online it explained helping the eggs hatch. I got a bunch now. I have had a few more egg clusters that never did hatch I don't know why. Good Luck with yours!!!!:)

Micki, you inspired me. I went and gathered my orange eyed magenta mystery snails and put them together in a tank.

OMG, it looked like a snail orgy!

i currently have two clutches of eggs, about how long to hatch?

roflmaoNancy... yeah they connect really quick.

Bhughes... I was thinking about breeding those 2 Kings, he's always building bubble nest.

Jaun it takes them about 2-3 wks it says and they need humidity or they will dry out and not hatch.

I have a second clutch as well now.

Well, I saw the new eggs on the 20th and Wednesday night they were hatching, so that was 9 days to hatch time.

I removed the clutch, put them in a Beanie Baby Container. I put half water in there and added an old small filter and propped it up and layed the clutch on top of it just above the water.

Watched them with a magnifying glass and I helped them a little bit with a toothpick to break free. I think I have about 30-40. Looking at them, they are so tiny and their shells are transparent and they have little black specks all over them. I put them my 29g that I just redid. Here's a pic of them down in the gravel... sooo cute and tiny!
