Oliphant, there are a LOTof different varieties of buce. I wonder what some of the others look like in bloom. Where are you planning to order yours from, and which one (s) are you thinking about trying?

Selling my colony of frontosa in southwest fort worth (76133). Most are 7-10" solid bands and nice blues. I've had many spawns but won't claim that you will or guess at how many males or females there are (there were 2 holding two months ago). I've had them over 5 years in a 200 gallon and am ready to try some tropheus instead. Not ready to sell individuals or ship. Cash only. You will need to bring buckets for the fish. Post here...

do you have a clear breeder box and a magnifying glass/lens? similar to this https://www.chewy.com/marina-hang-on-breeding-box/dp/131464?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=f&utm_content=Marina&utm_term=&gclid=CLyH5qbV0dQCFcq2wAodrFUHuA&gclsrc=aw.ds if so you can easily examine the bottom side with the pleopods to catch any other developments early.

I just figured out what was going on this week. I removed the three that had an obvious infection. Watching for more signs of parasites. So far, so good. The rilis are in a different tank. No obvious issues so far. Don't know if I could have spread the parasite before I knew the cherries were affected.

Those shrimp are very badly infected. Sorry to hear about this. Any improvements since you took care of the most affected? Also, how are the carbon rili's doing? Are they in the same tank? I hope they didn't catch it.

I highly doubt that only one seller did that. The rules require pairs to be brought that way so every pair that was sold should have been packaged that way. -john

OK. A few people have contacted me asking who sold the shrimp to me. I contacted the seller and he said his shrimp did not have the parasite. He also said he contacted the other people he sold to and their shrimp did not have the parasite. Maybe this is true. Maybe I had the parasite in a tank that was set up in March and only had endlers before I added the shrimp in May. I don't know so I cannot judge. I will just watch my shrimp and remove any...

Thanks Nick. I saw this article. It seems to have the most info available. Rachel O'Leary posted a video where she intentionally bought shrimp with the parasite in order to test treatments. She used Quick Cure, which says not safe for invertebrates on the label. It seemed to work for her, but it also killed some of the shrimp. I am not going to try any heroic efforts to treat my infected shrimp. I already destroyed the ones I knew were...

Hey mscotty. the pics you show of these heavily infected shrimp are probably past the point of saving, but take a look at this article for treating this problem. I borrowed the link from the shrimp forum I am on. https://www.discobee.com/blogs/news/the-dreaded-green-fungus-ellobiopsidae-neocaridina-shrimp-parasite-and-how-to-cure-it

Saltwater is not hard, it's the Equipment and first buying the sand and rock. that's can be shockers to beginners. my advice is go slow ,(nothing good happens when going fast with saltwater. also make sure to do maintenance each week. ( top off evalp water, and do a water change). my nano wasn't to bad. I ended up going to the Allen petco and get a 50 a day ro machine that was around 65.00 then added a di part to it. I topped off 2-3...

I bought some cherry shrimp from somebody (I am not naming names) on this site last month and it turns out that some of them have the dreaded "green fungus". The name is a misnomer because the shrimp are actually infected by a Ellobiopsidae parasites. Being a novice with shrimp, I thought the shrimp was carrying eggs. Eventually, I recognized that things did not look right and I got a magnifying glass for a closer look. I asked around and...

Dallas North Aquarium often has them pretty cheap. Wet / dry filters have fallen out of favor in the saltwater community so they can be often had for very cheap.
