Pictures updated: I built a 29 gallon diy basic sump to drastically increase the filtration and add some flow. Not to mention add water volume to the system and keep the water level constant. The mollies all got new homes and I put in a 11 fish shoal of Columbian tetras to act as a nice little dither school. Very in love with this tank now. Going to add some stems to the back and side soon.

I bought the largest of their overflow boxes and have been quiet pleased with it. Running a pump that's supposedly rated for I think 1980GPH full blast and it seems to have flow rate to spare. I've seen double red cacatuoides at Dallas north and Rift to reef. Don't think I've ever seen the agassizii though. I rather like the cacatuoides variations personally.

Not really, posting pictures here is a challenge if you don't have the right software's. I would rather txt pics than try to figure out how to post pics if I'm only selling fish and equipment like once every quarter

So...what I have now that's staying is: 5 Otocinclus 6 Pinctatus Corys Next on the list is probably 8-10 silvertip tetras and either 1 Apistogramma or 1 Ram BTW--i'm searching DFW for a bright red/orange apistogramma agassizii...I think its called a double red? The overflow box is a CPR CS50--i'm a little concerned that the flow rate is too low, but i've heard for a heavily planted tank it should be ok...we'll see. In addition to...

say PM your number and I will text pics? Why not just post the pictures on the ad so everyone can see what you have to offer and then you don't have to send individual pictures to everyone? If you post pictures in the ad, you may even get attention that you would not have otherwise.

Just realized your using the same hang on back overflow I put on my 87g recently. You've got the little aqualifter pump hanging back there too? I bought the largest version cuz I'm over-filtering my tank like crazy and wanted a strong flow rate. Are you just using the sponges in it as your only mechanical filtration? I probably went a bit overboard on the sponge change I put in my sump lol.

What do you plan on moving into it? Be a perfect tank for some apistos or some other smaller cichlids.

I suggest using Purigen or activated carbon to remove the tannins, and not changing anything else you are doing. This should leave the water chemistry the same and avoid shocking the fish.

A few years ago I started up a new tank here: http://www.dfwfishbox.com/forums/production/vb4/showthread.php?40983-My-Setup&p=430229#post430229 Then we had to move and it went and lived at my church while our house was being built. Finally, a year after moving in, I built a new cabinet (matching the curve of the BF was a fun, added challenge), set up a new filter/sump, re-scaped the tank, and have started adding new fish....most of the fish...

I finished my filler panels for behind the tank between the stand and canopy. I will get them glued and mail in agter work tomorrow. I also decided on the doors for the stand and found the hinges I want to use on them. I can't wait to get them finished and installed on the stand so it will look like a finished stand. I also bought most of the acrylic for them sump baffles, I need to buy some black for the refugium side of the sump to keep as...

Purigen works great, I like just being able to toss the cheap filter floss. Like that video suggests it's super cheap to get a big bag of batting. A hand full of that stuff is pennies and can just be tossed.

I've used purigen when I was too impulsive to soak the tannins out of new driftwood. I got enough purigen for two treatments, that way when I took out the first used bag, the second was ready to be put in. That way if I was short on time, I didn't need to clean the used purigen immediately.

My experience getting my water clear after adding large driftwood has been that just doing a couple good size water changes, and running a powerhead with filter floss on it clears it pretty easily. I'd do a 30ish % water change twice a week max, so as not to drastically alter the water parameters too quickly. When I'm trying clear up my water I run something very similar to this for the powerhead/filter floss:...

I was looking at my 65 gallon blackwater tank, and though I really enjoyed it for these last few months, I honestly miss the less tannin-stained look. I guess I was wondering if the only way to really convert it back to clear water would be to do more frequent water changes (and to stop adding new driftwood that I keep finding and falling in love with... oops)? And maybe toss some purigen in the filter to soak up the excess tannins? I was...
