Thanks for the heads up. Sometime else you can do is to make friends at your local donut shop. Almost everything they use comes in about 3 gallon food grade buckets. I have paid anywhere from .50 to 2.00 for them through the years. -john

If this isn't spoken for, id love it. Our 6yr old ball python loves to climb and I keep trying to convince the gf to switch out 75g tall to a terrarium. She wont. This would be sooo much better. - - - Updated - - - Doh. I didn't read the second page. Wasn't trying to step on toes.

I know this is old but, I'm adding to the efficacy of the search function. You can fill co2 tanks at academy. Also, yes. Running co2 at night will cause a ph dip due to the plants not photosynthesizing and the excess co2 acidifying the water.

Plants in a vegetatime state (ie, not flowering)do not need a dark period. 24/7 is best. The downside is you may get more spindly leaves from fast growth. The one thing I might change about your setup is the lid and spectrum. Plants need PAR(photosynthetically active radiation) and, more specifcially, PUR (photosynthetically usable radiation) to metabolize. 1st issue is that the translucent lid is blocking a ton of the PAR. The second is...

This will absolutely work. I did a similar think a couple houses back. I had a large fountain, bought a few dozen comets, medicated them, and tossed them in. I fed them occasionally and they did really well. I'm sure some died but, not many. I assume they are bugs and bird poo and such.

Reesetricted replied to a thread 5 Gallon Buckets in Equipment
Buckets for salt are almost always very durable. I suspect, since they are made to withstan lugging the 80# of salt, the 35# of water is no problem. The mount for the handles is significantly beefier than on a walmart/HD bucket. Most of mine are instant ocean but, my favorite is blue and much taller than a 5g. I think the salt name wore off but, I'll check . The higher sides reduce splash.

Reesetricted started a thread Hello all in Introductions
Currently, I have 3x 75 gallons and a 210g. I'm converting my 210 from a lake victoria tank(hap dominant) to a reef to consolidate my other tanks. I'm not sure what kind of fish to put in the 3x 75s. I'm thinking a mixed discus tank, a Malawi tank, and mb a guppy or killi tank. I haven't kept discus in a long, long time and there are so many new colors I want to enjoy.

Using pendants to control the spread of plants is brilliant. We definitely have some plants that just cover the entire tank. It would be nice to be able to isolate them. On the flip side, it would be nice to have darker areas to make fish more comfortable. You've given me a whole new way to look at lighting. Thanks.

I have been looking for a group of these for about 2-3 years now and purchased some F3 fry over the summer while hoping to eventually find some wild adults to mix in the group. This is the first time I have seen a real one for sale that was not a mislabeled "peruvian altum" angelfish being sold as such....stopped by a place in Austin and they had some F0 Nanays for $65 that were actually "peruvian altums" and were too expensive anyways...

Here it is almost three years later. This is just a couple days after a massive pruning. I pulled probably half the plants out because they were just overrunning the tank. You can't really see it in this photo, but there's a regular ivy growing in the left side of the tank. It's probably 50/50 immersed/emmersed and doing quite well.
