Noticed a flower spike on my green wavy today. Think these little plants will be as bad as my coral addiction was. So many to have.

We use to advertise in the paper but no one gets the news paper anymore. You can have a craigslist ad but that is not great. The best thing that I know is to get the local fish stores behind the club. We would have to print out a flyers and have them give them to each customer. It would help both us and them but these are the types of things that never seem to get done. On the driving deal....I have seen people that would rather drive 10...

I have tons of people who come to my house to buy and I mention the auction and they have never heard of it - - - Updated - - - HCCC in Schertz is a small town but has more people show up...I think it's the fact that they can have food and drinks...maybe it's time for a new place and start taking credit cards and paying people who stay right there at the auction...IMO

The fish market on DFW is poor. No one is willing to pay for quality fish

I don't think its about the drive. Its about how passionate they are about keeping fish. Like someone mentioned, the older generation have stopped keeping fish and the new generation don't care about keeping fish anymore. Go to the auctions and you see the same ole people and not too many new faces. I am sure there are some fish keepers who don't know about the auctions. The word needs to get out.

That is your number one problem....DFW is just too big for most people to drive without complaining. I am 1.5-2 hours away and it is too far for me to drive a lot of the time....blown away by the amount of people up there that complain about 20-30 minute drives and want stuff delivered.

I have been saying for a couple years if TCA doesn't attract younger members its doomed because unfortunately as people age they slowly get out of fish and the auctions are getting smaller and smaller...although I did get 3 really nice breeding groups

here my take on things. I've see it from different clubs that people want the reward, but don't do the work to get there. people split from dfwmas and made dallasmas, then there was drama and tools stolen. people split and made north Texas reef addicts or what ever it's called. like john said a lot of people move on and go to different hobbies. I remember when the plant club had speakers, and a meeting each month, now we meet every other...

I don't think the big box stores have done anything for the hobby, that's for sure. You can't treat fish like boxes of pumps. They aren't boxes of pumps. Last time I got fish wholesale (April 2018) I had ich that was resistant to copper and formalin, a new form of septicemia that is not temperature activated but also not immune to tetracycline, and hexamita. And the cory cats that appeared to be ok have a cory specific disease, I went from my...

The problems run much deeper than what day the auction is on. This club once had a lot of active members, use to host shows, use to bring in speakers. Now we are a club that the only real thing we do is a couple of auctions a year. We have almost no active membership. It is either time to fold up the tents and call it quits or time to start to rebuild it. Rebuilding it will be hard because it is based on volunteers. I have found that lots of...
