I'm considering getting 2 or 3 apistogrammas for my planted 75 gallon tank (details in sig below). I'll most likely remove the lone German Blue Ram if I go this direction. Are there apistos that won't get along with the other fish that I should avoid? Are there ones you highly recommend?

I like the look of the cacatuoides I've seen, if those would work. My backup plan is to get two more Germans or a trio of Bolivians.

Go with the Apistogramma cacatuoides, I have 2 trio's right now that are smoken hot. These are Triple Reds with males having red also on their pectoral fins. The ladies are also triples with red coloration on dorsal, caudal and anal fins. These combo's will almost always produce triple fry.

$30 a trio shoot me a P.M. if interested.

x2, i have been happy with my triple reds cactuoides. i keep them with kribs, various cats, various plecos, angels, and rainbow sharks. unfortunetly my male did die yesterday. i dont know what happened. i have had him in there for a pretty long time. ever since i started that tank. he was breathing hard then was dead this morning. so, Travis, you'll be getting a call from me soon.

Would I be able to keep a trio of German rams in the 75 with a trio of your reds? There are a lot of plants, rocks, and wood in there to break up their territories.

You won't have any trouble with that combination. Apistos are cave spawners and Rams are substrate spawners. Shouldn't mess with each other at all. Plenty of room for everybody!

I breed my Apisto's in a 10gal that is a pair. I would recommend a 20 long for trio. I raise lots of fry in 10gals and finally they get moved to a 30gal before they leave. This is anywhere from 30-50 fry at a time. Putting them in a 75 would be like moving to heaven. Same with the Rams.

They're doing very well Travis. And they're not hiding like I thought they might. The new arrivals were swimming among the cories and rams this morning. Thank you very much.
