1 mature female BN, 40ish BN fry, 3 Kribs and 4 brichardi's

Leaving the wife in charge was not the best idea...I guess.

She didn't do a water change (or any of the other things you're supposed to do) in the tank that developed ick.

Didn't do a water change and didn't remove the resulting dead fish- allowing a ammonia/nitrite spoke in the nursery tank, which killed the majority of the tank...

Basically, she didn't pay attention to the tanks while I was gone- she just fed them...then she realized what had happened and tried to cover her tracks by doing a lot of water changes just before I got home and forgot to add de-chlorinator (as best I can tell) to the Flav peacock tank- so they were all dead by the time I saw that tank.

Total bummer!!

She was pissed at me for being upset at first- now she feels bad. So it sucks all round.

I'm sorry to hear about the fish....that really does suck! But my husband would have done the same if I went on vacation...minus feeding...and covering his tracks!

She's going to Chico, Ca for 2 weeks at T-giving, that was purchased and paid for before my Napa trip came up (that's why she didn't go with me). So she's got her big vacation coming up.

Oh believe me, she's making it up!!

I do need a female BN though.

Wow Chris... so sorry. If it helps (no, I don't think it will but I'll offer anyway) I've still got 4 Brichardi. They're yours if you want them. They'd probably be happier with you... right now they live with blue dude, which means they have to sleep with one eye open :)

Today is bad! But, Tues through Thursday are pretty good. I'll take a small batch of the plants... I want to try it in one tank before I get too carried away! Yes, this is a novel approach for me but, I figured what the hell.

Have you checked with Canh about replacement pleco's?

Once I had an emergency trip to Denver, I left my kids in charge of just keeping everything running till I got home, somehow they turned the pump off a rack circulating two large tanks hooked together, and the won 300 wt heater that was fine heating both fried a nice pr w fry albino pearl scale angels. Also found a tank of dead L046, obviously not the best results, just hang in there. If there was any solstice it was the imprint of the won and the skin on the heater where the offending son yanked the blazing hot heater out of the tank by the cord when he saw what was going on and proptly stepped on it barefoot:hehe:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/paulscar/IM005579.jpg

I guess the other aspect is- those tanks now need new fish...so there is that.

I don't recall Canh having regular BNs- but I'll head up there today and see. I've got an email into him now- so we'll talk- I haven't talked to him in a couple weeks.

Course, Peanut is doing just fine! And the crawfish tank is in great shape- she's even got a female crawfish holding eggs.

Very sorry for that extreme loss.

Ah yes brings back memories. Two occurences with me a colony of WC Tropheus Red rainbows and went for a week out of town. Came back half were dead, she overfed them ruined the water quality and tried to do a water change by scooping water out and putting new fresh "chlorinated" water in. They soon all died in about a week after my return.

Second trip she let my "granted sensitive setups" dovii male eat my female and my f1 bifasciatum kill my f1 synspillum. Moral of the story we need to reach out to fellow fish people when we go out of town instead of our wives......geese.
