My new regulator came in, the CO2 tank is full and ready for hookup, and I put in a few new plants today... getting nervous about my homebred big boys in the tank when I switch on CO2.

There are 5 discus, 1 troublemaker black angel, 11 rummynose, 8 albino cory, 3 bolivian rams, 7 cardinals.. and I think about a half dozen ottocinclus in this tank. I just took the picture, you can tell I have enough light on this thing to power a small city.

Plants are primarily Radican swords, crypts (lutea, bronze, green, red),dwarf sags, vals, and about 8 types of anubias.

Any tips on hooking up the regulator for the first time?? I bought the model labelled "THE BEST" from aquariumplants.com

Make sure you have a tub with soapy water, use a sponge dipped in the soapy water and run it over your regulator when your first turn the switch and let the CO2 flow. It will help you check to see if you have any air leaks and give you a boost of confidence that you did the hook-up right!!:ohyes:

Hey Cathrine, is that the tank you got from me a few months ago? I didn't know it could look so good! Very nice!!!

Yes tsunderl it sure is, and thank you! I gave the stand and canopy another coat of glossy black and painted the back of the tank a pale green. I think it sets off the plants nicely, and I love the clean look of glossy black!
The discus in the tank are my own breeding, I have the next generation (finally) in a tank newly separated from parents. In this tank, there are only males so there won't be fighting/breeding. To give you an idea of scale, the males are all at least 8" in diameter!

Woot! My buddy Jorge came by today and helped me set up the CO2! I can hardly wait to see what a difference that makes to the growth of the plants. On a bummer note, the HUGE orange discus was meurto this morning. Just one of those things.. He was about 5 years old and over 8". So, only the blues in that tank now. One of these days, I will take pics of the other (22) tanks. LOL> Ya, MTS, and I have it bad.

give it about three to four weeks to see any difference, I think you'll be pleased with the results

The tank looks great!!! Seems to have a bit of an ADA feel to it and I can't wait to see it all grown in!

My personal suggestion would be to use plumber's tape on the fittings for the regulator. There's white (normal plumber's tape), yellow (gas and high pressure water) and red, i think can't remember what the third color is might be blue (for hot water). Any of them should help prevent leaks at the connection from the CO2 tank to the regulator and other areas.
