I just got a Filter Max II Pre Filter for my fry tank, using it with a Aqua Clear 50. I had to try something new as the old sponge filter by itself was way to stinky and the fry are still small enough to be sucked in the AC 50. It looks like it is a solid filter with no openings for fry to get sucked into.It also comes with three adapters which look like they will fit on most name brand filters.

I ordered it on Tuesday from http://americanaquariumproducts.com/PreFilter.html a lot of other places carry the same make and model but this guy's shipping was fast and cheap, he actually shipped it the same day I ordered it. Looks like a great product for fry and planted tanks.

I've been using the Filter Max III on all of my AC's for years and they are the best prefilter that I've found.

I usually get them from Kens or Jehmco but I'll keep this link handy for the next order.

Hmmm very interesting!

Freaking things are cheap too! I was about to completely replace my HOB filter on my Cherry Shrimp tank because I was thinking about going air powered sponge filter to protect the babies, but I think this might just work better (more filtering).

I ordered 2 more, but this time I went with the Filter Max III its the same size as the II but comes with a Reticulated Sponge which is a little more coarse than the II which allows for a higher GPH and wont clog as easily, i am running one in all of my fry tanks and put one on a fluval 204 in my german ram tank.

I just bought two of the II replacement filters for $1.99 each :ohyes: and will simply cover the intake on my HOB with it.

Thanks for the heads up Scott.
