so i put some new sand in there. kinda a different color then i had, but it still looks good. but the only problem is its cloudy... i washed the living crap out of it... but still maybe not enough?? what can i do to fix it? let it sit for a few days and see if it settles? if not, should i do a water change and make it go away or what? i bought a 50lb bag, but i dont know if i wanna use anymore. i barely used any, and its like this... i used some before, but it didnt get this cloudy. and i didnt wash it as much the last time and it was the same stuff. so i dunno, maybe it just needs time??

im just a worry wort i know...

I don't know about sand, but I bet it does just like color-quartz...it takes a day or two to settle, even after washing it. Just relaaaax!:D

all my sand takes a couple days to clear up no matter how well you rinse it. rinse your filters every other day to speed it uyp.

Did you drain the tank before you put it in?

IMO- if you fill it very slowly, put a plate in the bottom (on top of the sand) and lay the hose on the plate so the water doesn't hit the substrate directly- you will have much better results. Also, don't turn on your filter until it's settled.

If you didn't do that- I'd suggest draining it and refilling in that manner- it's much faster than waiting for it to settle on it's own.

well. what i did on the 10 gallon twice, and the first time with the 55, i kept getting scoops of the sand, and slowly pouring it down, not too fast to make that... cloud ya know? like poof cloud. or whatever. and it always worked. perfectly clear, no cloudieness or anything. and thats what i did with this sand... but maybe i did it too fast i dunno

It will take a little while for it all to settle down, its no worries. Gravity will do its job.
