Just thought you might be interested in seeing pictures of my two veiltail oscars. I got them in September and October of '08. Here is a picture of them in the QTank together. I grew them out in a 60-gallon tank, then a 70-gallon tank, and they're now in a 100 together (no other fish). They are about seven or eight months at this point and starting to do pair-bonding type behaviors, so I'm hoping they are a pair, not so much because I want to breed them, but just so they'll continue to get along and won't have to be separated (I'm attached to them both, so it would be difficult to choose one). Anyway, picture two is them in February, and one of each of them from tonight. It's sobering how fast they grow. :) My guess is they are little over half grown.

They are beautiful. :) I love the names. My cockatiels name was Gavin as well. He passed away a few months ago. :(

I hope Devan grows up to be just as beautiful as your two. :)

VN, How big do you suppose they are? Whats with the no gravel? Any reasons behind that?

Those are beautiful fish, especially the albino. Pic#2 should have been entered in one of our monthly photo contests, it is so good. Thanks for posting!

Thanks! They've grown so much since that picture! Oscars grow so amazingly fast. I was going to chronicle their growth for the entire first year by monthly photos but I just haven't been good about that. My photography skills suck. I still haven't read the manual to my camera and just "wing it." I'm sure it could take better pictures if I read how to use it. :) I didn't enter the photo contest because all my tanks have major equipment showing in every shot. I tend to overfilter everything and have hoses everywhere, ugly Eheim green too. But, thank you. I love my oscars. Next time you're in north Fort Worth, PM me and stop by and visit them.

Oh, and Iron, the shot with no gravel they were in the QT tank when I got them as babies last summer, and my QT tank has a bare bottom for ease of cleaning and if I need to medicate. They're in the main tank now (well, THEIR main tank; they are its only inhabitants). The main tank has 3M Colorquartz in a smokey blue. I really love it. My best,

Updated photos of the oscars, now almost a year old. They have their mouths full of frozen silversides that they get every water changes (Wednesdays and Sundays). They used to do the oscar pout during water changes, now they're up front and wagging their tails for what they know is coming as soon as the tank is filled. That's their treat.

Do you think they're going to be a mated pair?

Very interesting look for an Oscar, never seen the fancy tailed variety! Like the albino

I hope they're going to be a pair because I would be heartbroken to have to separate them. They seem to just do the typical mouth locking, "testing" behavior and no real damage. It will be a few more months before we know for sure. Nancy, can you belive the tiger one is that one Cyndy got last summer as a tiny baby? They sure grow fast!

DD, yeah, they're both veiltail oscars. Some people hate it but I really like it. Guess everything at my house has long, flowing fins. :)
