I've had this jardina arowana for about a year now in a 240 gallon tank. He's about 15". Got him when he was 1/2 that size. Eats anything (pellets, shrimp, nightcrawlers, tank mates, etc.) He's single handedly gotten rid of 5 big clown loaches & all the bristlenose plecos.

What else do you have in that tank? I always read that they don't tolerate any tankmates.

I've never purposely fed him live feeders. He just made meals out of the tank mates. Only a few remain that've manage to escape his mouth due to multiple hiding spots under the driftwood. He's also killed a couple of super mean Midas cichlids that I thought could hold their own...guess not. Found them both laying on their sides the next morning.

Nice Jar but yeah I suspect he is going to live a solitary life....

That is why I love my Black Aro big smart fish that does not take any crap but does not kill for fun either...

You're probably right. His source of entertainment is occasionally chasing the tank mates. Of course, they don't consider this 'fun'. :twitch:

Story sounds like my dad's mammoth Silver Barb. He added some Africans to his 110 and next morning the Tin Foil has a tail hanging from his mouth... :(

I've seen the video of these guys going after insects in the branches above the Amazon river. They are amazing. They eat pretty much anything.

As a suggestion, you ought to buy some convict cichlid fry and see if he'll eat those. People sell them for .50 cents each usually, if you kept a pair they have about 50-100 babies and that could be a good food source for you. And they will at least not be as ugly as goldfish in that tank.
