After neglecting my 75gal tank for the last week and a half and leaving the light on I realized last night that I had a VERY serious algae problem. I scrubbed the tank took out my holey rock and treated the water with an algae remover solution. On the way to work this morning I discovered I had 2 Acei's, 1 yellow lab, 2 female M Auratus all DEAD. I still have a few other occupants that seem to be ok so I moved them to my 30gl holding tank. Now I have another issue, how do I get algae off of my holey rock? What can be used to get it out of the grooves? I tried scrubbing and that doesn't seem to be working.

soak it in bleach/h2o for a day then rinse real good and soak in h20 for a day some declor is not a bad idea also after it has been bleached. plus if you have time you can always sun dry it.

Should have bought a bristlenose Pleco. They eat algae green or brown. Sorry to hear about your loss. You need to let traces of chlorine evaporate when cleaning with it. I usually soak the rocks in water treated with PRime just to make sure.

Get a timer for your light, no need to be on 24hrs a day...:)

a little algae is good for your tank, i dont thnk you should remove it. the fish will nibble at it, its good for their diet. If you have a bad algae problem you have water parameter problems, maybe you overfeed or your water is high in phospates. I dont recommend using algae removed chemicals, those are a sham
