If you have a pond with turtles what kind of turtles do you have and where did you get them? What do you feed them?
I have seen red eared sliders and MAP turtles for sale several places but what about some other kinds?
I had what I think was a western painted turtle as a kid that I got on my grandparents' farm in northwestern Kansas.
I would feed it frozen minnows from the bait shop.

Most of the ones I've seen have been the baby red ears. You might try one of the local reptile expos when they are in town. I'm sure they are mostly snakes & lizzards, but I'm sure there are a few turtle suppliers that will be at them.

or you could be hardcore and go with one of these.... they have these guys shoved in the back at all the expos but they go VERY fast!

Yeah, I have always been a fan of soft shells. At the apartment I used to live at there was a creek and in the spring there were always baby red ears and soft shells. I will post some pictures I took later. Anyways, I plan on getting one once I have the space.

I would like to find out what turtle (eastern or western painted) was native to northwestern Kansas where my first turtle came from. I do kind of like the soft shells though.

I remember reading somewhere that two headed sliders don't end up living very long because they have all kinds of internal deformities as well.
