Ok folks, I'm at a point where I need nature's algae vacuum cleaner. This is for a small tank (29g) so I don't want something that grows to 2 feet long. I'd be content with a max size of 4-5 inches (the smaller the better). I'm also looking for something with some nice fanciful patterns.

Any suggestion? I know there are a lot of pleco experts out there. ;)

Thanks!

Bristlenose are the favorite around here.

Clowns are fine as well but have to have driftwood in the tank.

albino bristlenose! no matter how many clown plecos you have in a tank, you will never see them. the bristlenose aren't shy at all

I agree on the bristlenose plecos. I originally got another small pleco, the rubberlip/bulldog, and it hid most of the time.

How are they [clown plecos] gonna vacuum the tank if they hide all the time?

Ok, looks like the albino BN is the way to go for now. Can it coexist with cichlids like yellow labs?

clowns do work at night, and stay in the shadows during the day

<------has clowns in the tank, mine come out even with the lights on. they eat the algae and driftwood. BN are cool two but the look like common plecos with spiked hair. the clowns are brownish/yellowish with black.
