Not sure I'd put any more rock in. Toss in some greenery and call it done. Rock looks good. Lots of little cubby holes.

Yes. Add some greenery in the back corners or from the rocks and tapering to the corners. If you look at the tanks at the aquariumdesigngroup.com website they use a lot of clean, empty, uncluttered space in their tanks. I tend to add just one more thing........:o

I don't know......mine is side to side stacked with rock.... I like more places for them to hide, and then I shove the greenery on the back wall.

yeah.. i sat and watch the tank for like an hour.. i decided to add more rock but no side to side.. im going to make 3 sections.. center section which is up then a section on each side.. that way the fish can choose were they want to live.. and encourage breeding.. i am getting 4 15 gal breeder tanks in a few days so im going to see how i do.. so yeah soon i will get more rock.. and what type of plant you guys think i should use that wont get chewed up terribly by the cichlids?

That's how I have my 180 long set up... Three separate stacks of rock, then a few pieces of river rock here and there. I recently pulled out all the greenery that was in it and replaced it with slender bunches vs the poofy ones. It still gives them hiding spots, and more open swimming space.

Mason is the only person I know of that has real plants with cichlids that don't mess with them. It's pretty much 100% fake in my big guy tanks with some live in my juvie tanks.

but you have to get strong plants if they are real.....that hardwater is hell on most plants. i saw t's setups today and almost tried to carry them out. if only i were Atlas... greek good dude... :hehe:. fake works.

I agree with T on the slender grass looking stuff versus puffy. I like it with the holey rock. Straight and green with the visual texture of the rock.....nice!

Karen has plants with her cichlids.....

I like the tall slender stuff too.

i like the green mixed with red. if my red lotus had done better in the cichlid tank......too bad it looked like the seaweed i feed.
