Actually, the problem is that it doesn't suck enough!

Not being in a DIY mode at this time, I wnt ahead and purchase a Python 50'. YEAH! I'm so excited! Came last night, just in time for Thursday water changes!

I'm starting on the 30, hook it up and get started. I've got fine white sand in this tank, so I'm being careful not to suck it all up with this powerful monster.

WTF??? This thing WON'T suck up the sand! Nor will it suck up poo or anything else... other than water!

I've checked al the fittings and everything is tight. What the heck is wrong with this thing? Yes, I'm considering the possibility of user error.

HELP????

Could be your sink.... my kitchen sink the python will not work on. It will half-a$$ start a suction but does not really get going. I hook it up to the water hose and it is a beast.

I was wondering if that was it. Not enough water pressure at the sink (POS!)

Thanks Blake! Real glad I got the 50' now!

I hope this works! This thing is useless if it won't suck up the poo!

Mine will suck some of the smaller fish right out of the tank if I am not careful, it has not happened but we have been real close. Poo is not an issue.

Well crap... I'm gonna have to go to Home Depot and get a short piece of hose. My outdoor spigot is not in a place that's conducive to dumping a 100+ gallons of water.

*sigh* I can't seem to have it all! Fast easy water changes with the removed water going into my yard. Not without hauling buckets.

Wal-Mart sells a 6' hose. In the RV department.

I have one I probably won't ever use again if you want it.

Thanks Andrew... I just had a "smart" moment. I'm going to bring the hose from the front of the house into the kitchen and use that. I believe that's where my best water is.

Hopefully this will work.

Now I have to set up a blockade for the boys while I have the front door open. Fun fun fun! LOL

Houston we have lift off!

Thanks for the input guys! The 2 55's and the 10 were done in nothing flat.... the 10 in particular! LOL

This set up just shaved roughly 2 hours off my Monday and Thursday water changes!

Glad it worked.... I was a little scared when I first tried it on my kitchen sink and it did not work very well. The hose was great....

are you using sink water pressure to "pull" the siphon water? That should be maximum drainage pull.

I use the next step down, I just get a suction started and drain it straight outside to the flower bed. That's generally enough pressure to do the trick for me. Except with Peanut poo- but that stuff is big to the point that it clogs the tube. :wha:
