I am new here, have had a 55gal tank for ten years now sitting empty..husband finally got me a stand for xmas and now it is up and cycling... right now i feel so overwhelmed as to what I want to put in it. I am in love with color. Just need a little help.. (I also like the dwarf puffers and wonder if they are compatible with anything)

Welcome to the box. 10 years sitting empty. I hope you let water sit in it for awhile to test the seems, preferably somewhere like the garage or in a room with tile. Not on carpet. Though sounds as if you have kept fish before so i am sure you already did this. None the less glad to have you! Enjoy your stay!

I had to force my husband to leave it for a while before emptying and placing it in the house... (he has never had a tank) But it is still perfect! Luckily!! :)

Welcome to the site!!!

I know we have several puffer keepers here, so they would be more apt to give good info, but from my understanding the dwarf puffers are like the big ones and will eat anything they can catch or fit into their mouths. Might start out with some slightly large fish (or fish that will eventually get large) then add in the puffer down the line a bit once everything else in the tank has had the chance to grow up enough to not get eaten :D.

HTH (hope that helps).

Problem with the puffers is that bigger fish will try to eat them...

If you keep them in a group(4-5) they will be ok with a community.

hairy puffers are the nicest ones. just get one of them and put a bunch of other fish in there and you should be just fine.

1. If you find one let me know...

2. They will chew off your hand let alone your fish....

Red Eye Red Tails are a serious option they are pretty good with other fish....
