Sunken Stomach how to treat?

I have a peacock that has sunken stomach what do you do to treat this?

Has he eaten ? how long have you had it ?

I had a bichir that I received from my transhipper than had a severe case of sunken stomach...after a few meals, the sunken stomach dissapear and a bulge appear :)

Forgot the tank info. Its a 125g that is heavily stock I have a FX5 and a Eheim 2217 filter. I have fronts, a huge compressiceps, some peacocks and some demasoni. All have been there for a while well established tank. Feed NLS once a day

i did not notice it until today. He eats every time I feed them. I looks pretty bad though could it be a parasite of some kind? I have had him for 6 months

If he's eating and still having the sunken stomach, I'd lean toward some sort of parasite. My suggestion would be to isolate him and treat with metronidazole.

I have used that stuff with good success for that problem. I got my metronidazole at the Fish Gallery. :hehe:

Then yes...you may have something..

I'd separate him for now, put him in an isolation container within the same tank and observe his poop / waste.

Feed him a little heavier..

From then, you may need a microscope to find out what's going on with him.

Does Petsmart or Petco sell Metro?

I've never seen straight Metro at any of the box stores. Jungle Labs Parasite Tabs has it as an ingredient.
I have seen it at DNA & Exotic Aquatics, though.

be careful with some meds...

they can affect your bio colony.

metro is ok though.
