yeah there are a number of different eels for freshwater. i dont keep any cause i dont have the tank space for them yet, but i bet someone here has some...that they can talk about. i had a dragon for about an hour before the turtle tore it up.

The dragon gobies are actually cool to watch. But make sure you don't have turtles apparently. lol

I've kept peacock and tire track eels before. Sometimes they like to hide under the substrate. They aren't very difficult to care for and are peaceful fish. I think they might get up to around 8-9" or so. I enjoyed them but keep a lid on the tank. they like to jump. You might also like the weather or dojo loach. It is very active and a good bottom feeder.

You did not have yours for very long. While a peacock eel grows slower it will get 24-30", Tire Track's will get 4-5 feet....

Well, I guess you're right, I never had one live long enough to get that big. I still think the dojo loach is a good option though. They don't really hide much and are very active.

I have had a dojo for a few weeks now, and he is honestly my favorite fish in my tank. Oddly enough, when I first saw a loach, I knew I would never have one...that was only a few months ago too.
