How do I set up a fry tank for Bolivian Ram fry? Thank you to Scuba/Stephen, I know how to get them out of the parent tank now!

Is it best to take the gravel out? Preferred temps?
I need to know everything about it that you know, pretty please?

How in the heck do you get the fry out? I have tried and tried in vain, so they are at the mercy of the big ones.

I'll try to put in words for you...I have it pictured though, lol.

You know that hard airline, a lot of folks use it in their up risers? Take a long (about a foot) piece of it and attach a piece of flexible airline to it...long enough to reach in and out to a container for the fry.
Start a syphon and pick up the fry...it's like using a gravel cleaner, if you've ever used one. They'll travel through and out to the other end.

If I remember correctly, it's best to give the fry a few days...like two. That way you get to them after they're free swimming but before they start to lift off and roam.

So you suction the wee ones out with the hose? Do they get to put the lotion on their skin first? OMG! I am sick! What is an upriser? I am kind of new, so if you have a photo that would be great, or give more detail. Sorry I cannot help you with your problem.

Yep, you suction them out, lol.

I have up risers in my 100g but they don't show so I don't have any pics for you.
Uprisers are the hard plastic tubes that folks use with undergravel filters...you put the airline and airstone down in them. You see them along the back of the tanks, or just in the back corners.

Oh! Now I know what you are talking about! My 55 gal. used to have underground filters! That is a great idea! Well, sorry to interfere with your quest for
info, I am so bad about that! I am just learning so much here!

Mematrix has done this.... I know he recommends removing the eggs once they start moving.... or I think that is what he told me. ????

It might've helped if I didn't put this in the American Cichlids board!
