They are pretty hard to sex reliably when young, and not always that easy when they get bigger. If you want to breed them buy a dozen nice ones and let them grow out together, some will invariably pr off. I used to be able to sex them about 75% of the time when I was breeding them, but not so good anymore. If you are looking at a batch from the same spawn, usually, not always, bigger ones are males and smaller females, but its kind of a crap shoot unless you see their tube down, when their tubes are down, males have a slender one that is just used to fertilize the eggs, so all it has to do is pass milt, females have a blunter bigger tube to allow eggs to pass.
Short answer to a rather lengthy bit of info, go to TASII for good angel info.

Yeah Arnold pretty much said it all. I never even knew which was which with my pair until I actuially saw them laying eggs. I wish I had a bunch of babes right now I would have given all of them to you.
I gave about 25-30 away from the first batch that I got to grow out.

With a tank that a big, a school of tetras or rasboras would look good along with the angels too.

How old do they have to be to pair up? And how can you tell if you have a pair? Mine are all fighting a lot since they've gotten bigger. I've heard this is part of pairing up, but I'm not noticing any pairs.

Typically they reach maturity around the 6-8 month mark. But some sooner & some later. Sometimes it depends a lot on water temps & quality & quantity of feeding.

They covered it pretty much. I can usually tell by the head shape if they are not tiny guys. Males have a rounder forehead that gets a bit of a tiny hump sometimes as they mature. Females have a forehead that is more slanted. Of course these differences are slight, but one I knew the sex of mine for sure, I could tell just by looking at their heads. But yes, breeding tubes are a definate sexing characteristic and is pretty obvious. When I started out with mine, I got 5, and sexed 4 of the correctly before breeding age. Of course I obseverd and compared, and observed and compared...you get the point. haha. And as Arnold said, you may be able to pick out some males and females by size if yours are from the same spawn. Good luck!
