We're looking to possibly do some changes to the site which might affect the load times for a dial-up connection.

If you are using dial-up please speak up. You have a voice here just like everyone else.

I'm DSL at home so no problem. Do I sound pretentious saying I wish the iPhone experience was better? There are tweaks that could be made to better support it but it may just be me using the site that way.

Even out here in WBFE have been able to at least get wireless. Still not DSL, but definitely better than dial-up.

Heh, I voted "other" ... I have no clue what we have here at work... T5 ? something like that...

At home we have Fios ... is that DSL? Anyhow, both my laptops (MacPro & Dell) are wireless, if that makes any difference.

Didn't think of folks that view the site on mobile devices (or any device other than a typical desktop/laptop).

Yeah, when you connect to the net you hear the modem dial just like a fax machine.

Wi-Fi typically means wireless connection.

Can be wireless connect to DSL, or Broadband, or a Cable modem, etc. (and also includes wireless connection to a printer or a mouse/keyboard and on and on).

Kinna like Blue Tooth.

You may not have gotten the sarcasm in my typing...
I'm very aware what dial up is...

remember, I'm over 30 and thats all we had back in the day...

Yeah I figured you knew, but was kinna hard to tell for sure.

Funny as crap though. I HATEEEEDDDDD when we had dial-up... freakin' disconnect every 20-40 seconds and take two or three attempts to reconnect (plus you have to hear it redial like a fax machine every time). I eventually pulled the wires to the speaker so I didn't have to hear it.

you were lucky, my modem made the noise...not the speakers...:hehe:

no youre right jerod wifi is a connection to a modem. if you are within range of a wireless signal and have the password (if private and password protected) then you can use the modem or router to get online.

Karen....Fios is broadband..... way better than DSL.

Back in my day, Sonny, we had acoustic phone modems that had rubber thingies to put our phone's handset on.

I'm still waiting for them to open fios for my area. They've been doing alot of digging & laying lines for it since we moved here, but nada on service yet.
A mile down the road in Keller they can get it though.

I will never get Fios in my area.
If you look at Chris' picture, follow the rock trail behind the hill and turn at the second tumbleweed on the left, you will find the pass that leads to the trail to my house. Only takes a couple of days to get here...
