Guppy Orgy

Megan (my wife) thought it would be cool to have a lil tank on her desk at work- so I got a little Eclipse 3 gallon and she got TWO pair- we set it up here and she hasn't gotten around to taking it to work. :rolleyes1:

Now- I think we probably have 40-50 little guys of at least 4 generations. I'm ready to get rid of the project all together.

SO- if anyone wants a bunch- I'd be glad to get rid of them. But PM me, I'm not crazy about live bearers- so I don't check this room to often. :o

Funny, of all the fish we have these lil buggers are the most hearty I think I've ever seen!! Perfect for kiddo's and school tanks.

i bought two guppies
i said "make sure to get a pregnent one!"
he laughed and home i went
one of the guppies died (from too much sex?)
now the one guppy left is getting a pot belly

how do i know when to isolate her for fry if she's a she and prgnant to boot?

is there a time limit?

what should i do with her? i do have a 2 gallon deskto triangle/corner shelf type tank w/no filter but just a bubbler...would that work?

Yeah, the small tank would work. Just make sure water parameters are close to the tank she's in and have plants floating for the babies to seek refuge in. I notice my mollies get kinda squared off vs round about a day before they have babies. Another sign is when they have a bulge where the babies come out.

Female guppies aren't as colorful as the males and are typically larger. They will also get darker in the belly as they go through their pregnancy.

Look for the bulging it will happen very shortly before it will happen.

Mine would also hang out very close to the bottom, sometimes looking like they were having a hard time lifting off.
