Do the babies find a way to get back on once they fall off? Cool video!

thanks :)
a few of them ive seen do find thier way back on. but most just go thier own way after they fall off. if she stays still long enough a handful of them will leave on thier own.

yeah thats cool. ours looked like that in late july. we left about that time for 2 weeks and when we got back there were 8 or 9 left. now im thinking we have 5. what im trying to say is you may not want to keep them all together. I dont really know if she ate them or if they ate each other or just died. I know there werent any sketetons. I know it was only her the babies and a handful of rosies.

i added a lot of hiding spots
and all thats left in the 55gal is the mom and babies
guess we'll see what happens
If it were me- I'd take mom out. I have no hard proof...but I suspected my mom of eating hers.

Your mom ate your craybabies??? http://pushupstairs.com/images/emoticon/neptune/Animated/Stunned/stunned004.gif
A quick Google search says yes, the mom will make a meal of them.

i bought them about 2 months ago i guess
bought 2lbs of them from the market
they all killed eachother/died off till 2 were left, and i had those two for about 3 weeks and then she popped up with babies
so i dunno who the dad was, because ive read they can hold fertilization for weeks...but im guessing it was the other of the last 2 left
(which she killed)
but i took mama out and have probably 100 babies in a 55gal right now...we'll see how it goes

not weeks but 5 months. she can hold a sperm sack for 5 months before passing eggs through it.

got about 30-40 crays in a 55gallon.
some are 1inch, some are 3inch+
i gradually grab the bigger ones and feed them to my puffer. i hope once i can thin them out i can get another batch of babies.

Cool video..........n congrat...........what kind of crawfish is that? or is that the kinda crawfish that we're normally found at papadaux?....I had my baby blue clawfish not too long ago...................I had about 200 babies............babies are everywhere.............the funny thing was, one day I got home from work I found that all the babies got back into their mama tummy..........lol...........I didn't know how they did that, but I found that pretty amazing...............yeah, they do have a lot babies......lol...........But you have to provide them a lot of space to hide, (if you want to keep them) coz they're eating each other..........goodluck........:)

did you just drop them into a tank? and are they like truly aquatic to where they just stay underwater most of the time or do they need to come onto land?

i brought them home, put them in 2 trash bins containing highly salted water. let them sit for about 3-4hrs. then transferred the ones still alive into a 55gal.
i guess most of them die off because they are kept out in mesh bags for god knows how long inside the store refrigerator.
they are 100% aquatic
I would assume the salt water killed a bunch- from what I've heard, they only need a quick dip to drop all their bad crap. That might help on the losses.

I have seen them in salt baths for 3 hours and be fine.
I would venture to guess you got a bad batch....

I have bought them from the market before and they died. I really wasn't all that surprised, I'm sure the poor things go through hell and are in a very weakened state by the time they are sold.
