I picked up a bosemani rainbow at petsmart for $3. Not bad for a $13 fish. He was on Clearance so Heather named him Clarance.
Right now he's in a garage tank.

Great find! Those are pretty and entertaining. I had a school of five once... Constant movers.

Wow....definitely found a good deal on those. If I found any at that price, I would get every single one! lol

I have two and I love them

I've read that these should be kept in groups, preferably of six or more. I'm guessing that's not accurate since you mention having two. What are your thoughts on the size of a group in a community tank?

Yeah I've always liked rainbows, if I see more i'm gonna take them too. I would like to have about 3 or four total to put in the 55G

Well what's best for the fish and what's actually available might be two different things.

If the LFS only has 2 fish, then you can only add to the school when you come across more :)

What do you feed Rainbowfish?

you feed them flake, brine skrimps, and anything else that will fit in thier narrow mouths

Well Clarence is in with the endlers right now, so far he hasn't eaten any of the fry. Seems to be doing fine with the cichlid flake for now. I've got frozen blood worms, BBS & BS I feed to the endlers on occasion.
I'm going to keep checking back to see if they get any more. I know it was a clearance deal, but I'm hoping they get some more by accident.

oH...I never heard of the group of 6. I asked JFP and they had told me they didn't school. The two I have don't really hang out together either. A school of these fish would look awesome though

If JFP said it, that is good enough for me. Here are a few sites recommending 6 or more, although they could all be copying each other.

Cool...thanks for the links. I will look at these! I have 2 Boesami and 4 Australians....wonder if that satisfies my "group".

Oh, I wasn't doubting the 6+ school advice; I was just staying if you only have a few available you can only add to the school to get to 6+ when more come available :D.

Thanks for the links ;)

Meet Clarence....

Would that be Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas? If so where is Rhenquist, and if you are a real rebel, how bouts some Sandra Day O'Connor?

A play on words... Guess you missed the first post.
I wouldn't waste a good fish name to honor the supreme court justices, most of them are just as screwed up as the rest of our government entities.

Just an FYI, I went to school to study government, both domestic and foreign. I can debate with the best of them, but will not. Just remember that these 9 individuals are the brightest legal minds in the nation. Its not like they just hand out jobs on the day a new Justice is chosen. We would all be in line if that were the case. What ends up happening is that the Justices will make legal decisions that are closest to their policy preferences and legislate from the bench.

Still Sandra Day stood alone on the Bench. She was a legal rebel. Hey did ya'll know that the landmark case of Roe vs. Wade came from right here in Dallas?

Your bosemani will be fine. You don't have to have large group. I have a mixed rainbow tank and they are happy with whatever. They don't care if it is another rainbow or not. I had two males at one time and they got to where they started fighting. They battled til they both had open wounds on their sides which let on to infection and then......we'll just say they arn't fighting anymore. Beautiful fish and great deal. If you want to see a impressive specimen, Just for Pets has a rainbow tank with a good looking bosemani in it.

Skipp, to the corner! He was referring to the fishy's name, Clarence, as in Justice Clarence Thomas. Goob. :hehe:

Well no shit!! I was being sarcastic....after his first thought I thought he was trying to be funny, but then there is no way because it was not in the least bit funny....

Then to come back and give a dissertation about government, debate and the justice system...I would say that warrants a huge colorful WTF.....:confuzeld:

Had he read the first post like Amon stated he would have known what it was....:tease:

Rollofhill, I want to say thank you for using colors! My apologies for the thread jacking. What is 'the corner'? I stand behind what I say. Our entire system of government was smashed into my brain over the course of 5 years (yes, it took me an extra year, what of it!) Your tax dollars paid for the state school education that I received. But still no recognition for Roe vs Wade? And your are correct, I did miss the first posting. Would like to say that Mr. Turtle has a beautiful Rainbow Fish. On that point we can all agree.
