I buy the little frozen packages that you pop out a serving of brine shrimp. I just pop them out frozen and the fish love tearing it apart!

i either buy the frozeb cubes... or cut what I need off the flats and hold it between two fingers and shake it back and forth in the aquarium....it dissolves and they eat.

Either way would work though...

try blood worms
what kind of fish do you have
all of my fish eat bloodworms but not all eat brine shrimp
try finding some live brine shrimp
they have fun eating it and you dont have to defrost
or hold it

I drop a chunk of frozen brine shrimp in a cup of aquarium water to thaw and then use a turkey baster to squirt it into the tanks.

Or I go to Fish Gallery and get a bag of live brine shrimp for under $5. It is more than I can feed my tanks in the several days they stay alive.

I stick the cubes in a 60ml syringe & suck up some tank water to thaw it. then I can point & shoot the food toward different parts of the tank. this way everyone gets their fair share.
I do this with Brine Shrimp, Blood worms, beefheart, basically any frozen food I use. It also lets me put various cube types in the syringe so they get a variety & I have enough to hit all the tanks at one time.
The only thing I don't do it with is BBS since it spreads out on it's own fairly well as it thaws in the water.

is it going to be too much protien for the african cichlids?

well for malawians... yes. you will give them bloat.

if you have tangs...they are good to eat this type of food a couple times a week.

But africans do best with a spirulina and NLS diet. This has been a great mixture for me for a couple of years now.

I gave my tank bloat by feeding too much beef heart and frozen brine shrimp.

I have almost gone away from bloodworms all together. There are still a couple tanks who get them but it is very selective and they have to be extreme carnivores. Pikes, bichirs, puffers, etc... Actually my Apisto Aggassizi get them as well but from everything I have read and have noticed they do fine.

A lot of smaller fish do not have the digestive power to handle a whole blood worm.

I have a little cup I get some water from one of my tanks, drop the cube in and use a turkey baster that is just for aquariums to put them in most tanks except the Trophs....

Depends on the tangs.... but some are fine. All my Cichlids are on a veggie /NLS diet. Trophs are on Spirulina(4 days) / NLS(1 maybe 2 days) before I got hurt....now Christine prefers NLS and gives them more NLS....

BTW of anyone wants a 60ml syringe or 2, then let me know. I've got 4 cases at the hospital that were recalled so we cant use them. I could bring some to the Halloween G2G.
They are allso great for water testing you have a master kit. I just fill all the test tubes from the syringe,& it's more accurate than trying to get the water in the test tubes up to the little line & chemically contaminated tubes never touch my tank.

I have and old meet injector kit that I never used and I pull the needle part of the injector off and just use the plunger...

I thought it was a great idea for make water test easy and it works freaking great.
