Well I went & got some baby albino BN & some Apistogramma Cacatuoides "Triple reds" from Travis. These guys are awesome looking. I picked up 5 of each & will post pics later.
I took him some boxes recently & when I saw all the Triples he had, I knew I had to have some.

Yeah I got 2 males & 3 females. Gonna split them in 2 different tanks if I don't leave them in the 55G.
He has some awesome tanks. One of his danios did some carpet surfing while he was pulling out some frogbit from the tank. If he cups his hand & puts it in the tank, the will swim into it & sit there. Closest thing I've seen to trained fish in person

I have never seen apistos before, and that little guy looks like a cute punk-rocker! Way cool! Very nice 55 too! What is that substrate you are using? The dark colors look good with the plants!

The substrate is SMS. Yeah he does look like a punk rocker, I'll try to get some better shots later when he is displaying. Right there he's just in "Chillax" mode. When they display the dorsal stands straight up...pretty sweet looking

I got them Here (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=High+Point+Rd+%26+W+Arbrook+Blvd,+Arlington,+TX&sll=32.879658,-97.25469&sspn=0.008343,0.013046&ie=UTF8&ll=32.683435,-97.119269&spn=0.00209,0.003262&t=h&z=18) Can't remember the name of the park though.

Step 1: Pull into the Steak & Shake Parking lot
Step 2: Get out of car Grab Bucket & Net & loaf of bread
Step 3: Throw bread at geese.
Step 4: Catch what you can before geese run out of bread
Step 5: Enjoy smooth creamy Side-by-side shake on trip home

FYI ~ (They're fast & no tank corner to chase them too!) I got out on the concret spillway that leads under the road. The mosquito fish & the mystery fry school together.

is that legal....
:confuzeld::confuzeld: I dunno? They aren't game fish, so I would doubt it unless there is a park restriction, but I didn't see one posted.

No I used to keep crappie fry in my tank when I was a kid. At this size if they were crappie, they would already have adult coloration.

Well I lost one male apisto, not sure who the killer is, not like playing Clue, there was no "lead pipe in the Billards" room. They completely ate him before I could get to him. Nothing but a skeleton left. Truly saddened by loosing him, since these fish are amazing looking.

First guess would be the Kribs as they are sharing the same territory along the bottom & they tore up heather's CT betta "Gill".
The next culprits would be the gouramis, since they had all take over the corner that the apistos were chilling in.
Third would be the other male apisto, but there was plenty of running room for him so I'm not sure.
Fourth would be the angels, but they don't mess with anyone. They PWN the whole tank & don't need to.
Last would be the rasboras, & baby BN's since they couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper sack.

ElijahTurtle
08-28-2008, 11:46 AM
Well the kribs are gone. I took them to Keller farms & traded them for some kuhli loaches. Couldn't risk them taking out another apisto.

Good choice!! sorry to hear about the Apistos......join the Apisto killing club with me!! LOL

ElijahTurtle
08-28-2008, 02:56 PM
Yeah, the apistos are already taking over the tank now that the kribs are gone. Makes me almost certain that the kribs were the culprits responsible for the death.
It was the krib in the dining room with a piece of gravel. :hehe:

One Mbuna orange blotch and the other I don't remember the name. its all black with orange yellow fins. it was up in the corner tank against the wall on the first fresh water fish lane if that helps any one. Yea I talked to Chris and he was saying they were going to get some freshwater rays. With out the stinger whichever ones those are. I also went to Exotic aquatics and got a peice of holey rock and that fish that everyone saif wasa stone fish they were saying it was a freshwater lion fish.

Only species of Potamotrygonidae, there are other familys of FW rays that are not illegal, but very uncommon to find in the hobby.

There is a local vendor that has them....

Not that they are hard to find the Atlantic Stingray is pretty common....just ugly as sin...for someone like me who likes oddballs and to call something ugly....

Anyway sounds like the DFW area is going to be seeing a lot of them in the coming months.

I heard from another reputable LFS they were available.
