Well, I started to hijack my own thread, so I thought I should ask here.

Right now I have a CAE in my 30g. I bought him when he was 1/2" and now he is 3 1/2". I love him to death because of his personality, but I am concerned with how he might get after reading some article's online about how they become very aggressive and will kill fish! He has not shown signs of aggression, but I am still concerned.

Now my question is: Does anyone know how well they get along with dwarf chilids?

We are about to buy a house and as soon as we do I am wanting to add to my MTS. I plan on having a tank with just DC in it and was wondering if they will get along.

Thanks,
~B

If you want to breed the Dwarfs you will have a heck of a time with the algae eater.

I have also seen them take over a dwarfs territory.

I would not try to breed them with that big guy in with them.

I had a CAE, evil little bugger, I was told they go well in mbuna tanks, but I would not recommend putting them with dwarves, I'd go for a nice small plec!

As long as the dwarf chilids don't swim at the bottom then your fine.

That is where 95% of them roam....

you should try ottos for your future dwarf tank a colony of 4 should be able to keep up with cleaning duties. BN's can be bullies in the tank with linitd hiding spots, so your future tank is going to need caves of different sizes

Thanks for all of the suggestions!! I am going to keep him for now and will re-evaluate once we move. I just want to make sure he has a great home because he has such a great personality!! Earlier today he was protecting my sick gourami from every one else, it was so cute!
