They are pretty good hunters even though they are basically blind.
Most of the time they can be trained to eat flake or pellets.
They would eat ghost shrimp if they got close enough....

I have had one.
I just fed a flake mix I trypically use and Haiki(sp) Ultimate flake.
I was lucky the LFS I got him from had already got him to eat flake.
He ate whenever there was food in the tank. The first couple weeks he hid a lot but after that he would be ou from about 4pm till I shut the lights off.

my granny used to have one. She hand fed hers everyday. not sure what though. I would love to have one if I had a tank large enough for it! They have sweet puppy faces.

The one I had before loved frozen blood worms. He would come out for those with no problem. With my new one I am trying krill and some brine shrimp. I am not sure of his favorites yet.

I thought about getting one of these to put in my tank... But I'm sure the cichlids would eat em.

they are pretty shy fish, cichlids may be too much activity and aggression for them

up to 20" long and need to be kept with other peaceful community fish. Need sandy bottom substrate with some sort of cave or tube to hide in.
