How about an oddball section on the forum?
What about brackish?

Just a thought.

No problem, I am too old the cry if I do not get my way. Great if it happens if not no biggie.

Love the new Av Blake- very cool!

I can see a need for abrackish room- specially since I'm kind of a stickler about keeping brackish fish in brackish tanks- which is overlooked a lot of the time when it comes to the popular puffers.

Good call!

Thank you, brackish always seems to be over looked. Even the plant world gives it no love. Thanks for the adds.

You're very welcome.

Well plant wise I don't think there are very many (if any besides Mangrove Trees) true brackish plants. Only plants that can adapt from freshwater to slightly salty and salt plants that can adapt to less salty. Brackish Adaptable Plants (http://www.plantgeek.net/plantguide_list.php?category=8)

But you're right, most fish sites overlook them.

I was surprised when I was getting ready setup my brackish tank that a guy at Plano Pets was telling me there were a few cool plants I should consider after I get it all setup. That was the first time I had heard anyone really talk about it. I knew there had to be some because everywhere in the world there is a ton of brackish water and it supports some huge ecosystems. But I had not really seen anything about live plants in a brackish tank.

I did read in a post on a forum about a green spotted puffer who was in a freshwater tank and ate the crap out of someone’s plants…. He might have been saying get me some freaking salt…. Who knows….

I've heard puffers like to eat plants-Peanut has been known to take a leaf off the plastic stuff a time or two- so be careful how much $$ you put into it.

I have also read about puffers eating the plastics, and the filter intake.

I will not be planting the brackish tank anytime soon, I need to make sure I can do ok with the 10g. The 55 will be next, but that will need a substrate change first....

the substrate in my 55 was gathered from the shore of Lake Grapevine. :hehe:

No special stuff at all- just as fine a gravel as I could gather.

I need to do some renovation in there and get a rocky outcropping for some dwarfs to hide in. Can't decide on a type of rock though...
