What the....???

Last weekend, I took out all my holey rock and pressure washed it. No chemicals, just water, then dunked em in a bucket of water dosed with Prime. Put em all back in the tank... AHHHH nice and white and pretty.

Now anymore! The tops of all the rocks are now turning a kinf of yellowish, orangish, brownish color! What's going on here????

I'd love to tell you...but I leave mine green! It's tooo much trouble to clean them....and weeks later get the same green result!

it could be alge(SP?) but i'm not sure.. google alge. i know theres red alge but i'm not sure if there yellow alge or not.

OK, I figgered out the problem... (thanks for all the input)

Apparently I got a little overzealous in cleaning the tank... my nitrates spiked and apparently that can cause this type of algae. Things have now leveled off. I've cleaned most of the rocks... except the biggun! Think I'll lug that monster to the bath tub today.

It isn't the hooked on phonics...he just got algae confused with Alge, the TE for the Falcons. ;)

its a type of algae/bacteria. in the reef its called red slime but its the same thing. called cyanobacteria. look it up its in freshwater too but most dont realize it. Increase your flow it will go away.
