I have an established 25 gallon tall with small tetras, cories, and guppies. What do you think about adding a pair of German Blue Rams to the tank? Would the cories annoy them? If they breed, would they tear up the nosy guppies?

Depends on how many Corys you are talking about.

The Rams will want quite a bit of a 25h floor space if they breed.

Good point. There are 6 cories, so there may not be enough floor space for rams.

It would be tough for breeding purposes.

I just want everybody to get along in there - fry would be cool but are not a goal at this point. I thought I was limited to more docile fish in that tank with the current roster. The rams sounded like a good option to make things more interesting, but they may not be the best fit.

Are there are other dwarf cichlids that are docile enough to go with this crowd of small tetras, cories, and guppies?

1. Not the dwarfs she is talking about
2. Dwarfs is a terrible name for Mbunas....
3. She is talking SA Apistos, etc....
4. Hongis will do fine with Tetras and what not

My question above was 6 months ago - I bought the rams and they got along well with the tetras, cories, guppies, and otos in that 25 gallon tank. They laid eggs a couple times on an ornament ledge probably 8 or 10 inches up from the gravel, presumably to avoid the cories along the bottom. The eggs disappeared after a day or two each time, as you'd expect with all that activity around.

Now the rams are in the 75 with angels and loaches. They're a bit more timid with the larger tankmates, but seem to be fine. I'm not familiar with hongis - they look cool (http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/l_hongi.php).
