View Full Version : Gotten a leaking tank?
I've bought several used tanks from DNA over the last several years & some from garage sales. I will always fill the tank up inside the garage just in case it turns out to be a leaker. Well, I didn't follow my own rules this time. Bought a used tank setup from DNA & even asked if it was a leaker since I saw some water damage on the stand. Tank itself looked in great condition. Finally set it up inside yesterday, almost had it filled to the top when we hear this loud water noise. The tank was leaking from the bottom seal (sigh)! DNA will refund my $$, but what a disappointment plus all the clean up :(
Anyone else end up with a leaker like this or one of their older tanks leaked?

I had a 55 a long time ago.......when I was a teenager, and a friend had it on her floor! She gave it to me, and I put it on a stand, and the front glass ended up coming right off!!! Talk about a mess....Jaws lived through that one!!

It always sucks though.

That is terrible!
Thank goodness I haven't come across a leaker yet, knock on wood.
If my wife was more into letting me setup tank all around the house like I want I'm sure I'd come across a leaker when dealing with lots of used tanks.
At least water will dry and DNA will refund. Not a total loss, but sucks nonetheless.

I haven't gotten any leaks ... yet... but I did destroy one once upon a time - was carrying it into the house (after checking it for leaks!!!), went in sideways through the sliding door ... then put the corner of the countertop through it when I turned around ... was not my smartest - or most graceful - moment.
