Hey everybody. I came across this site while googling African cichlids. It's nice to find something local! lol I live in Denton with my 2 cats and two aquariums. My 90g bowfront was a community aquarium, but I have moved those fish into a 55g and am about to start building the 90 into an African cichlid tank. The 55 houses 2 Blood Parrots, 1 Krib, 1 Bolivian Ram, 6 Silver Dollars, 6 Giant Danios, 7 Red Minor Serpae Tetras, 1 Leopard Ctenopoma, 4 Angelicus Loaches, 1 Chinese Algae Eater, and 1 Gold SAE. As much as I'd love to keep them all, I just don't have time for more than 1 aquarium, so this 55 is temporary. I'd love some feedback as to whether or not I can keep the Blood Parrots, Silver Dollars, Ctenopoma, Ram, Krib, or Algae Eaters with Africans. I've gotten lots of different thoughts and opinions so far, but I doubt I can get too many! ;) So, I'm really looking forward to everything this site has to offer and hopefully I can add something myself.
Thanks,
Jim

Wow, thanks for the quick welcomes. And I'm glad to hear you're having success with blood parrots and algae eaters, I want to keep as many of my current fish as I can in my new setup. Sherman's not far from where I grew up, in Collinsville, and my girlfriend's from Plano, lol. Small world.

Who do you know from Collinsville? I'm 25, graduated in 2000. And are you talking about Cheddar's the restaurant? If so I haven't eaten there, yet, but my dad and extended family go there all the time and love it. Are you in charge of the aquarium there or something? That's awesome. My name is Jim Richards, I went by Jimmy in high school. That'd be crazy if someone there knows me, lol.

Welcome to the forums...
Sounds like you have a good handle on things.
I love those 90 (92 I think) bowfronts. We were just talking about those the other day.

Thanks for the welcome Andrew. Yeah I'm not 100% sure of the size, it was just sold to me as a 90. I've seen 90, 72, and 46 gallon bowfronts. I really got lucky finding my tank. I was home from work one day, extremely bored, looking through classifieds. I found an add saying they had a 90 gallon bowfront with stand and canopy for $300, so I jumped on it, lol. It had a few little scratches, nothing very noticeable, just needed a good cleaning, really. So, I've had that setup as a community for a year and a half or so until the day before yesterday, when I moved it all to a 55g. I'm going this weekend to get a bunch of limestone to stack in the 90 to try to draw the cichlids up to the top once it's all cycled and everything. I hope it works and still looks good, lol.

Yeah definitely keep us posted on how the switching out goes (as I'm about to do almost the same thing with my 90)
(btw, sorry for not saying HI in the chat... I was reading the forums and not paying attention.. I'm still on there if you'd like to shoot the breeze).

Hey I tried to get back into chat and my comp is screwing up. Guess that's a sign it's time to shut it down and go to bed, lol. And I'm gonna take step by step pics of the buildup of my 90g and post them on my myspace page. Thanks again for all the welcomes, I'm off to bed. Later.
Welcome aboard!!

Well I know all about small towns. I grew up in Collinsville. We always played Slidell in basketball 3 or 4 times a year. And I'm with rolloffhill, what're you're real names by the way, I'd be lost without cable. It's funny because I never had cable growing up, just the 6 or 7 local channels from the rabbitears, lol, but now... I had Verizon FiOS installed about a year ago, it's awesome. I don't want to ever be without it now! lol

Yeah I know where Plano is. My gf's parents live there, off Parker just west of 75. I saw you enjoy welding and mini trucks. lol What kind of truck do you have? I'm guessing it's all shaved if you weld, and possibly bagged? I have an 01 S10 Xtreme I tried to do some things to, but it's been the same for a few years now, ever since I bought my house. Damn priorities, lol.

Welcome Jim! Glad you found us! Hey Mongo, do you know any Coffey's in Aubrey? Think there is a Looper or two related to me too. We helped found Aubrey, but now it is overgrown with big houses that I hardly recognize it.
