Hey guys, I'm new to the fishbox and really excited about being a new member. I guess it's customary to tell about the tank you have so here it goes-
I've got a 46 frewshwater bowfront. I've got 4 Angelfish 3 are silver and one's yellow, 7 beautiful Boesmani Rainbows, 7 pristella tetras, 3 yoyo loaches, and of course a Pleco that is quickly out growing my tank lol.
It is a planted tank but I'm currently working on "remodeling" it with some new tropical plants. As the other ones I had before were destroyed by snails :(.
I keep the pH at 7.0 and the temp at 80. My nitrates and nitrites are all under control. I've been having some problems with my water hardness lately trying to get it under control because it is ALOT higher then I want it to be so if you've got ANY suggestions I'd really appreaciate it.

Those 46 bowfronts are really nice tanks. I bet that one look extra well with live plants and angels ;).

The hardness and pH can fluctuate when we get rain fall, so I might recommend having a couple gallons of RO/DI water (usually available at our LFS for a few dollars) to mix in with your water change. Should help to control the hardness and pH as you mix the RO/DI and tap water and normally using chemicals isn't the best method to change the chemistry.

i've got two white boxers and a lab/pit mix that kinda wondered into our lives lol. they are the best dogs in the world (personal opinion) and they are all CRAZY about each other :)

Do you have water test kit which includes the pH, high pH, and hardness tests?

I'd LOVE another white boxer!!!

We have a single male right now- we had a female, but she passed. Before that- I had a white male boxer and he was awesome!!

I have them for the pH and hardness, but not high pH, I've actually never heard of that..

You probably don't need it, but like my normal pH test stops around 7.6 to 7.8 and the high pH test starts at 7.8 and goes way up from there.

If you have lower pH you won't need one.

Oh thats awesome!! I hardly ever meet people with white ones. I love boxers, they're such characters. I got my boy from a breeder when he was a baby but we adopted my girl from a boxer rescue. If I could afford it I loved to get another one too lol

I pulled a white dane from the forney road shelter week before last, he was dumped there by a guy with a white boxer. A$$hole was moving and "couldn't" take them with him. I never HAVE been able to find that mystery state that doesnt' allow animals....

Please, please, PLEASE never buy a white Dane (not sure how it works with Boxer but, I'll bet it's about the same) from a casual (read: backyard) breeder! White Danes are a genetic mutation that carries all sorts of unhealthy traits. Some people have created a demand for these pups and unscrupulous breeders are TRYING to produce them. (shaking head) Not a good situation. MAny of them can have GREAT lives but, many have terrible issues beyond the typical blindess and deafness.

Just say NO to buying from backyard breeders, flea markets, the side of the road, pet stores, etc. If more people would say no, it might put a stop to some of the terrible breeding conditions that exist in this country.

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN! I makes me want to puke when I read all the poor dogs being given away on craigslist. I understand that there are SOME cases where a family can't take care of their dog anymore but selling it because they're just tired of it and want a "newer" model is RIDICULOUS

IS this great or what, another member that loves and has boxers, Chris this means that you need to another boxer to bring you back to two, you just can't have one I tried and now I have two!

And update your profile to include your location- that helps us to know where you are when referring LFS and whatnot.
