A warning on the LEDs....for the price they do not last long....everyone I know who has tried them and most of the LFS that sell them tell you they are a short term deal.
LEDs with a short life?
Hmmm that's the first I've heard of it. One of the main selling points for using LEDs are their long life. Maybe it's a matter of keeping them sealed/water proof.

I know I have talked about it before.... not sure where….
Good luck with it, but look around at the reviews of them before you buy them. There are a few of the LFS who do not carry them because they got tired of people bringing them back after a month or 2. Others will basically tell you that you are on your own when they stop working....
I was looking into this a little while back but the reviews online were not good so I started asking around and there was not a lot of support from the LFS for the lights due to their experiences.... I lost interest shortly after.

Is it the switch that wears out quickly?? If so, put them on a timer. That should keep them going

Biggin, do you have any links to ones in particular that are having problems, or which have bad reviews?

I've had a couple people tell me the same as what Biggin says. Both said submersible LED lights last about three months on average. Not worth the money to me.
